This auction is for a special edition of Portofino Dry Gin, created to mark the Ocean Month, entirely hand painted by the artist Francesca Futura Malanca, who has created a work dedicated to the theme of the preservation of the seas and oceans.
This five-liter bottle of Portofino Dry Gin is an artisan gin born resulting from the passion of its founders for the suggestive village of Portofino.
Produced in an ancient Italian distillery, Portofino Dry Gin is made up of 21 different botanicals, carefully selected for their aromatic properties: lemon, juniper, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, sage, iris and rose.
Since 2023, Portofino Dry Gin has been linked to One Ocean Foundation to support its important projects related to the protection of marine ecosystems.
Francesca Futura Malanca alias Futura, is an Illustrator and Designer from the eastern province of Milan.
After having designed spaces and objects during a three-year course in Design at the NABA - New Academy of Fine Arts, she moved to the field of communication, attending the two-year specialist course in Communication Design (in the same Academy) and began to approach art direction, illustration and graphic design. She then gained experience as an Illustrator, Art Director and Graphic Designer within various Milanese agencies, small publishing houses, newspapers and cultural associations. She loves the color black, Greek mythology, the sacred and the slow. This is where most of her ideas start.
Water-based markers were used to decorate the bottle and then a primer with a glossy effect was added to protect the drawing.
“The heart of the illustration is the gin in the glass, whose outline transforms into the waves of the sea on one side and the hills of Portofino on the other. I wanted to portray the act of raising glasses to symbolize the union between the sea and land, a bond based on education and mutual respect."
