About the artist
Damien Hirst, a leading figure of the Young British Artists since the late 1980s, is one of the most notorious artists of his generation. He has challenged the boundaries of fine art with provocative works, including dead animals in formaldehyde, mass-produced spot paintings worth millions, and For the Love of God (2007), a diamond-encrusted human skull. His art explores themes of religion, mortality, and desire. Hirst has exhibited at major institutions like Tate Modern and the Rijksmuseum. In 2008, he bypassed galleries with the auction Beautiful Inside My Head Forever, earning $200 million. His works have fetched over $10 million at auction.
