"Ahead of Operation Varsity, Robert Capa photographed U.S. paratroopers scheduled to touch down in Nazi Germany, beyond the Rhine River. The following day, Capa parachuted in with the 17th Airborne Division. The successful Allied operation involved more than 16,000 paratroopers and several thousand aircrafts. It remains the largest airborne operation ever conducted on a single day and in one location."
